Veterans Services
V.I.E.W.'s therapeutic rehabilitation programs consist of three tracks:
Transitional Residences is a work oriented residential program for recovering substance abusers. Veterans must have completed an acute treatment program, and be willing to participate in work therapy, AA or similar program, and group counseling. We currently operate 6 therapeutic Residences, with a total of 32 bedrooms.
Vocational Evaluation & Placement provides intensive work on job readiness and placement. Services include vocational counseling and testing, job seeking skills training, information on job training, individual job development.
The program is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team of rehabilitation professionals, including nationally and state certified Mental Health Therapists and Certified Clinical Dependency Counselors. Medical services are provided by the VA Medical Centers in Tacoma and Seattle.
The program is work oriented. All veterans in the program participate in work therapy, or are actively seeking employment.
The program provides a wide range of work, leisure, and living environments, ranging from very simple, closely supervised assignments, to competitive community placements. A veteran coming to the program is placed at the appropriate level of this hierarchy based upon an initial assessment.
By providing a variety of work, leisure, and socialization settings, veterans can progress through a series of small steps. Often the rehabilitation goal can be achieved through a series of small advances.
